Online ads are everywhere, whether you are checking your email, researching a quick note, or shopping online. This is because online advertising is cheaper (for space you get) than the newspaper, a magazine, the radio, television, or outdoor advertising. Most people know if they go to an expensive well-known advertising agency, they will come out of it with empty pockets. Here are some guidelines to help you get started.

  1. DEFINE YOUR OBJECTIVE– Sit down while you are in a relaxed mood while thinking deeply about what you want to advertise. Define your goals that you want your ad to achieve. It is generating new leads, directing more “traffic” your way, or making your company visible in the market place.
  1. DECIDE WHERE YOU WANT YOUR AD TO BE SEEN– Considering top search engines, such as Google, Bing, or even Yahoo would most likely be your best bet; however, you could place your ad on websites that are relevant to your type of business. For example, if you own a real estate company, place your ad on a website (that allows ad placement) that tells about real estate. If you do not want to do any of those, you could always try the online Yellow Pages, Service Provider directories, and other large sites or networks.
  1. GET YOUR AUDIENCES’ ATTENTION– The only way people will click on your ad is if it sounds appealing to them. So the target audience you want to attract and they will come to you. Keep in mind that the more clicks you receive, the more money you receive because of ‘pay per click advertising. A good tip is in order to attract your targeted audience, align your message to the mindset of them. As they read your ads’ message, they should be saying, “Yes, this is what I am looking for”. In addition, your message should convey the promotional goals your advertisement desires to accomplish.
  1. BE CREATIVE– The online advertising marketplace is quite the competition, so in order to make your ad stand out from thousands of others you must be somewhat creative. Now, you may think I am talking about the ad’s creativity on its own; however, that is not the only creative factor in the advertising world. You must be creative with where you place your ad. An online contact lens clinic pulls hundreds of people every day to take an eye test with one simple ad. Remember; pay per click advertising benefits you here!
